This week we were given part if are brief for this term. We are going to be making retro style indie games based around a location and character we drew from a bag. In addition to this we have been developing our production studios further by designing logs and thinking about what colors, typefaces, font size and layout we are going to use. Are company pulled from the bag Ada Lovelace who is the first computer programmer and Ancient Egypt.
To start off with we did some research into what types of social media there were and whether or not they would be worth us using to try to promote are game.
SOCIAL MEDIA REPORT
Total population: 2016 7.395 billion Internet users: 3.419 billion Active social media users: 2.307 billion Active mobile social users: 1.968 billion
Facebook had as of 2016 1.79 billion active users that log in monthly and 1.18 billion that login every day.
As of September 2016 Facebook has 1.66 billion mobile user
(Facts as of July 2016)
There are 1.71 billion active users. 823 million of them are mobile only users. 45% of Facebook’s users only access the platform through mobile. 83% of parents on Facebook are friends with their children. Facebook adds 500,000 new users every day. 72% of all US adults visit Facebook at least once a month. Worldwide, 38.6% of people online use Facebook. The average number of friends is 338 and the median number is 200. Half of internet users who don’t use Facebook live with someone who does. Of those 24% say they look at post using that person’s account. People spend 20 minutes per day on average.
There are lots of people using it so we will be able to reach a very wide demographic. It cost nothing to use so we won’t have to pay anything. There will always be someone who will be interested. It makes it easy to keep in contact with the team and clients.
There is so much traffic that you may not be found. The group or post would need constant surveillance so that you can answer all questions anyone has and prevent tolling, inappropriate or irrelevant posts.
(Facts of 30th of December 2016)
The Total number of people who use YouTube is 1.3 billion. Over 300 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube per day. Almost 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every day. In an average month 8 out of 10 18-49 year-olds watch YouTube. 6 out of ten people prefer online video over TV. 80% of YouTube views are from outside of the U.S. 38% of users are Female and 62% are males. User Percentage by Age 18-24 – 11%, 25-34 – 23%, 35-44 – 26%, 45-54 – 16%, 50-64 – 8%, 65+ – 3%, unknown age – 14%.
You can be easily found whether on purpose or by accident. It allows you to easily like in other Google services like Google drive, google doc’s, Gmail and G+.
Compared to many other YouTube channels you may not be recognized or found quickly. There is a chance you wont appear in any of the suggested feeds for some tome.
Pinterest has over 100 million people log in a day and each on average spend fifteen minutes online. 85% of users are female. 60% of all users are from America. nearly 75% of users have bought something from the site or because they have seen it on the site. 30% of all American social media is done on Pinterest.
We could easily post Artwork of the game and start attracting people to us so we can then feed them to are other platforms. It will be easy to target people in America as they re the predominate users of the site.
There is a lot of images on this platform so we will most defiantly get lost. We will only reach a small number of people and from that an even smaller number of people who are not form America.

We were working on our game synopsis today. A game synopsis is the general story for the game. It is usually found on the back of a game case and allows the buyer to see what the story is without giving too much away.
For our game synopsis we had lots of great ideas and concepts but eventually agreed to stay away from time travel and aliens finally deciding it would have something to do with magic. And so we typed out a version of the story and went with that.
“Late one night, Ada Lovelace was working on the Analytical Machine at the RAS (Royal Astronomical Society). She travelled to Egypt in search for antediluvian equation that may be the key to her work. After traversing the boggy Black Land, she reaches the sandy Red Land to explore the pyramid for her research. But in her haste, she unlocks an ancient evil causing her to use her brains to stop the past consuming the present by collecting mystical stones to seal the undead back in their tombs.”
The Idea behind this person of the story was Tootan Carmoon’s tomb and the curse that was placed on it. We also performed some research and came to the conclusion that it was the Egyptians and others that created maths. This allowed us to get Ada Lovelace our main character to egypt where she would accidentally open the gateway to the underworld.
